Mollie Ydstie, 90

Red Lake Falls - Molly Ydstie, 90, died Monday, March 12, 2001 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer with Rev. Robert Paulson officiating. Dawn Halvorson was the organist, and Cecil Malme was the soloist. Casketbearers were Goodwin Kvasager, Merlin Carlson, Larry Ulrich, Ralph Snobeck, Bob Wilson and Roy Quick. Interment was in Emardville Cemetery at Plummer. Johnson Funeral Service of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Molly Thorene Bakke was born on November 29, 1910 near Gonvick, the daughter of Ole and Gunhild (Audelid) Bakke. She grew up in the area and attended country school at Engelstad School House and Pleasant View District 9.

In December of 1935, Molly was united in marriage to Waldemar Ydstie in North Dakota. The couple farmed his family's farm near Red Lake Falls. Molly worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home for 22 years until her retirement. Following retirement, she moved to her daughter's farm and lived there for 15 years before moving to Hillcrest Nursing Home where she had resided for the past four years.

Molly was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer.

She enjoyed flowers and music, playing several instruments. She also enjoyed embroidery, needlepoint, animals, cooking and especially spending time with her family.

Molly is survived by two daughters, Mavis (Gary) Grove of Red Lake Falls and Cherie Sabo of Glyndon; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers, Otto, Hans, Jon and Eilev; and a grandson, Daniel.
