Forks, N.D. - Evelyn Alice Wolfgram, 86, died
at Valley Elder Care in Grand Forks, N.D. on
Thursday, March 4, 2004.
Funeral
services will be held at
11
a.m. on Thursday, March 11, at Bethel Lutheran
Church in Grand Forks.
Visitation
will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, (tonight) March
10, with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Amundson
Funeral Home.
Evelyn
was born October 8, 1917 in Grand Forks, N.D. to
the late Bergit Dahle and Ernest Peterson.
Being
the oldest of her siblings, Evy's first role was
that of caregiver to her siblings. Later in life
she assumed roles of mother, foster mother,
café operator, store manager, school
teacher, knitting instructor and teacher of the
visually impaired. Evy taught at rural schools in
Northwood and Duckworth School near Grand Forks,
N.D., Niagara, N.D.; and was the principal of the
grade school in Shelly. Along with Wilmar, they
owned and operated Niagara Corner in Niagara, N.D.,
"The Store" in East Grand Forks and Evelyn's
Machine Knitting in Grand Forks, N.D. Her most
recent roles were that of machine knitting
instructor at Camp Grassik for the blind and
grandmother.
Survivors
include her husband, Wilmar and adopted children:
Mary (Olivier) Jodock and Wayne Wolfgram of Grand
Forks, N.D.; foster children: Doris (Anthony)
Smith-Coleman of Grand Forks, N.D., Clara (Michael)
Smith-Rivera of Lutz, Fla.; five grandchildren;
siblings, Stella (Ted) Crichton of Greensboro,
N.C., Alma Peterson of Tacoma, Wash., Clarence
(Margaret) Peterson of Grand Forks, N.D., Beverly
"Tootsie" Rabehl of Sonoma, Calif., Colleen
"Delores" Erickson of Oakes, N.D., Dona Peterson of
Grand Forks, N.D., Frances (Duane) Svanes of
Kintyre, N.D. and numerous nieces and nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her parents and one
sibling, Clarence Oliver Peterson.
