Wold, 90
Thief
River Falls - Verna Wold, 90, died on Monday,
December 29, 2003 in the CNC unit at Northwest
Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan.
3, at the Evangelical Free Church in Thief River
Falls with Rev. Jim Howard and Rev. Mel Sich
officiating. Casket bearers include Mark Hanson,
Robert Wold, Richard Wold, Paul Wold, Kjell Hanson
and Ehren Hanson. Interment will be in Greenwood
Cemetery of Thief River Falls.
Visitation
will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2 at the
Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls,
with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Friday evening and
at the church for one hour prior to services on
Saturday.
Verna
Dorothy Johnson was born on January 12, 1913 in
North Township of Pennington County, the daughter
of Renold and Hilda (Storing) Johnson. She was
baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and
attended grade school in Pennington County,
graduating from Lincoln High School in Thief River
Falls. Following High School Verna attended Aakers
Business College in Grand Forks, ND. Verna worked
for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Thief
River Falls for 40 years, with most of those years
in Customer Service.
Verna
was united to Clarence Wold on June 20, 1956.
Clarence died on January 26, 1972. In May of 1999
Verna moved to Valley Home, where she has since
resided.
She
was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and was
active in Sunday School and also in several Women's
Groups.
Verna
loved to read. She also enjoyed working for White
Cross making bandages, which were sent to hospitals
around the world.
Survivors
include one brother, Ray (Myrtle) Johnson of Thief
River Falls; one niece, Barbara (Barry) Olsson of
Minneapolis; and one grand niece; and several other
nieces and nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her
parents; two brothers: Elmer and Ted; and two
sisters: Gladys and Bernice.
