Paul Wold, 65

Thief River Falls - Paul Arthur Wold, 65, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Wold, Paul Wednesday, September 4 (today) at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston with Rev. Dan Horn officiating. Barb Geer will be the organist and Duane Morey will be the soloist. Musical selections will include "Here I Am Lord" and "When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder." Casketbearers will be Maurice Oliver, Marlan Pokrzywinski, Richard Mix, Scott Oliver, Wes Lund and Ron Jeffrey. A private family interment will be held on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Camp Sioux in Grand Forks, N.D.

Paul Arthur Wold was born on July 12, 1937, the son of Arthur B. and Ruth (Berentzen) Wold in Crookston. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school in Crookston, graduating from Crookston Central High School in 1955. While in school, he was active in athletics and achieved recognition for his abilities.

On September 8, 1961, he was united in marriage to Shirlee Stout. The couple made their home in Crookston.

On May 25, 1994, Paul married Valerie Heffner and the couple lived in Thief River Falls.

Paul worked in banking in the Twin Cities and East Grand Forks. He was employed as office manager with Terra International Inc. in Grand Forks, N.D. from 1966 until his retirement in July of 2002.

He loved all sports, woodworking, carpentry, traveling and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was active with the Thief River Falls Community Arts Council where he most recently acted in "On Golden Pond," "Annie" and "Social Security," and also worked behind the scenes. Paul was a volunteer driver for Pennington County and was active at the Heritage Community Center and had recently become their treasurer. He also enjoyed the company of his coffee friends from Hardee's.

Survivors include his wife Valerie of Thief River Falls; seven children, Randy (Vicki) Foss of Sauk Rapids, Kathleen (Mike) Garcia of Crookston, Nicole (Nathan) Raymond of West Fargo, N.D., Kim (Jim) Mix of Crookston, Jon (Carrie) Wold of Fargo, N.D., Stephanie Lopatowski of Chesterfield, Mich. and David Lopatowski of Belle Plaine; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; father and mother-in-law, Bert and Ruth Heffner of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one brother, Kenneth (Sue) Wold of Kenyon; one sister, Patricia (Wally) Lloyd of State College, Pa.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson and several aunts and uncles. A00003B2002SP04
