Thief
River Falls - Lonia Wold, 95, died Monday,
November 19, 2001 at the CNC Unit of Northwest
Medical Center in Thief River
Falls.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, at
11 a.m. at Green Funeral Chapel in Thief River
Falls.
Lonia "Sunny" Sundberg was born on October 3, 1906
in Grygla, the daughter of Eric and Angeline
(Anderson) Sundberg.
On
July 20, 1933, she was united in marriage to Otis
L. Wold in Thief River Falls. Sunny graduated as a
registered nurse from Asbury Hospital in
Minneapolis and then worked as a surgical nurse at
St. Luke's Hospital in Thief River Falls. She
continued to use her nursing vocation throughout
her life until she was in her mid-80's. She also
worked at the Crippled Children's Clinic during its
periodic visits to the area. Otis died on December
23, 1981.
Sunny served on the library board for many years,
the Pennington County Welfare board and a term as
president of the Ladies Golf Club. She was also an
active lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran
Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat (Don) Grawert of
Minneapolis; two brothers, Robert (Maxine) Sundberg
and Karl (Mabel) Sundberg, both of Grygla; a
sister-in-law; and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to her husband, Sunny was preceded in
death by her parents; two sisters, Evelyn Wogensen
and Lydia Phillips Wessen; and two brothers, Roland
Sundberg and Clayton
Sundberg.
