Alma Wold, 92

Greenbush - Alma Wold, 92, died on Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at the Greenbush Nursing Home.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 13 in Oiland Lutheran Church of rural Greenbush with Rev. LeRoy Flickinger officiating. Donna Graff was the organist and vocal music was provided by Darcy Hasson and Chris Rhen. Casketbearers were Duane and Dick Bessler, Wayne Wold, Daniel Debe II, Elmer Dahl, Robert Robeck and Glenn Guldberg. Honorary casketbearers were all of Alma's friends. Interment was in Oiland Cemetery.

Alma Christianson was born on April 4, 1910, the daughter of Brede and Mathilda (Pederson) Christianson in Pelican Rapids. As a preschooler, she lived in Soler Township. Her mother died when Alma was 14 and she helped raise her younger brothers and sisters. She graduated from Greenbush High School in 1928. In 1933, she was united in marriage to Haakon Wold. The couple lived in Moose Township where they were involved in constructing homes. Haakon died in April of 1959. Alma continued to live in the last home built by Haakon and worked at various cooking jobs. She cooked at the Haug-Leo School for three years and then was head cook at the AFLC Bible School in Medicine Lake for seven years.

For the past ten years, she has resided at the Greenbush Nursing Home. She had an avid interest in church activities and was a long-time member of Oiland Lutheran Church. She served as pianist and president of the Ladies Aid for several years. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

Survivors include seven children, Arlys (Glen) Bessler of Williams, Harlan (Julie) of Anchorage, Alaska, Darlene Honl of Cordova, Tenn., Marva Debe of Anchorage, Alaska, Virginia (Glenn) Guldberg of Hopkins, Shelley (Elmer) Dahl of Roseau, and Denise (Robert) Robeck of Ramsey; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mabel Copeland of Spring Hill, Kan., Oline Erickson of Greenbush, Ruth Erickson of Roseau and Clarise (Leonard) Swart of Badger; one sister-in-law, Myrtle Christianson of Greenbush; and several nieces and nephews.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Haakon; four brothers, Joe, Ben, Melvin and Rudy; and one sister, Olava.
