Jack Winter, 71

Pasadena, Calif. - Jack Winter, 71, formerly of St. Hilaire, died on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at his home in Pasadena, Calif.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 7 at 2 p.m. at Bethany Missionary Church in Bloomington.

John Harry "Jack" Winter was born on April 28, 1931, the son of Harry and Selma (Hoff) Winter, in Crookston. He was raised in St. Hilaire and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. He earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy at St. Olaf College in 1953 and completed Bethany School of Missions in 1956.

In 1964, Jack and his wife, Dorothy, founded Daystar Ministries which grew to incorporate a staff of more that 700 people around the country. He ministered in more than 40 countries and wrote a book, "The Homecoming," which was published in a variety of languages.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Dorothy; three children, Kris (Allan) Rinkus of Pasadena, Calif., Kari (Don) Grinde of Burlington, Vt. and John (Amelia Glorieux) of London, England; four grandchildren; a sister, Joan (Emil) Magnuson of Andover; a brother, William (Helen) Winter of Annandale, Va.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends around the world.
