Goodwin Wilson, 87

Thief River Falls - Goodwin L. Wilson, 87, died Sunday, October 7, 2001 at Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston.

Funeral services will be held at 2 Wilson Obit p.m. on Friday, October 12, at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with Rev. John Wollenzien officiating. Phyllis Dalager will be the organist, and Jane Anderson will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Herbert Wilson, Clair Larson, David Peterson, Bill Peterson, Roger Evenson, Warren Wilson and John Houske. Honorary casketbearers will be Gene Nelson, Herbert Swenson, James Rude, Ernest Mostrom, Virdeen Grove, Elmer Kolseth, Alex Wald, Earl Lillevig and Gary Anderson. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be held Thursday from noon to 7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to the time of the service at Green Funeral Home.

Goodwin Lloyd Wilson was born on October 9, 1913 in Wyandotte Township of Pennington County, the son of Oscar and Sarah (Brandrud) Wilson. He was baptized and confirmed at Clearwater Lutheran Church and attended District 6 elementary school. He stayed on the family farm and continued the farming tradition his entire life.

For many years, Goodwin served as a caretaker at Clearwater Church and cemetery.

He enjoyed music, singing, playing guitar and making tapes of his own music. He also enjoyed taking photographs, shoveling snow and mowing the lawn.

Goodwin is survived by a sister, Alvina Vik of Thief River Falls; seven nieces, four nephews; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Selma Wik; and two brothers-in-law, Edward Wik and Arthur Vik. A00003B2001OC10
