Helen
Willers, 91
Thief
River Falls - Helen Willers, 91, died Thursday,
June 21, 2001 at the CN & C Unit of Northwest
Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral
services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June
26, at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River
Falls with Rev. Don Kirchner officiating. Elaine
Idso was the organist, and the soloists were Sean
Daly and Jerry Stormo. Casketbearers included
Leslie Puppe, Dave Puppe, Rodney Puppe, William
"Bill" Puppe, Dale Kopecky and Danny Kopecky.
Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery in Euclid with
Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge
of the arrangements.
Helen
Diercks was born on June 13, 1910 in Goodhue, the
daughter of William and Margaret (Matthees)
Diercks. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith
on July 3, 1910. She was later confirmed in the
Lutheran faith and attended a country school near
Goodhue.
On
September 10, 1930, Helen was united in marriage to
William Puppe in Goodhue. Following their marriage,
the couple lived in St. Thomas and Hensel, N.D.
until 1952 when they purchased a farm in Norden
township west of Thief River Falls. William died on
June 6, 1969. While on the farm, Helen worked at
the turkey plant for about 12 years. She also
worked as a home health aide for Inter-County
Nursing Service for several years. She moved to
Thief River Falls in 1970.
On
April 8, 1978, Helen married John Willers at St.
John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. The
couple resided in Thief River Falls. Helen moved to
the C & CN Unit at Northwest Medical Center in
October of 2000.
She
was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the
Good Cheer Club in Norden township.
Helen
enjoyed dancing, traveling and making blankets for
each of her grandchildren.
Survivors
include her husband, John of Thief River Falls;
three sons, Willis (Bonnie) Puppe of Drayton, N.D.,
and Paul and Thomas (Zeffy) Puppe, both of Thief
River Falls; a daughter-in-law, Ann Puppe of
Cavalier, N.D.; 13 grandchildren; 27
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Stella Raasch
of and Celia Puppe, both of Red Wing, and Elsie
Strusz of Zumbrota; and many nieces and nephews.
Helen
was preceded in death by her first husband; a son,
Earl; her parents; and four brothers, Erwin,
Clarence, Bernard and Ernest.
