Fosston
- Milo Wilde, 81, died on Sunday, September 7,
2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River
Falls.
Funeral
services will be held at
11
a.m. on Thursday, September 11 at the Fosston
Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Stapleton and the
Rev. Carroll Erickson officiating. Casketbearers
will be Nathan Hubert, Matt Wilde, Travis Wilde,
Scott Wilde, David Wilde and Zach Marino. Honorary
casketbearers will be all of Milo's family and
friends. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m.
with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday,
September 10 at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in
Fosston. Visitation will also be held for one hour
prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Interment will be in Asphult Cemetery in Hill River
Township, rural Fosston.
Milo
Henry Wilde was born on January 1, 1922 in
Pennington County, the son of Wilbur and Alice
(Cox) Wilde. He grew up on the farm, attended rural
school and graduated from Lincoln High School in
Thief River Falls in 1940. Milo served his country
as a member of the United States Army Air Corps for
27 months during World War II as a tail gunner on a
B-24.
On
January 29, 1945 he married Ruby Dahlberg in
Riverside, Calif. After Milo received his honorable
discharge, the couple made their home in McIntosh,
Bagley and then in Shevlin, where he owned and
operated an auto garage for 20 years. In 1972, they
moved to a farm near Fosston. Milo was part owner
of Wilde Construction based in Shevlin, until his
retirement in 1987.
He
was an active member of the Fosston Baptist Church,
past fire chief of the Shevlin Fire Department,
past president of the PTA in the Shevlin School
District and he drove school bus in Shevlin for
seven years. Milo enjoyed hunting caribou, bear,
elk, deer and grouse with his family. He also
enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors
include his wife, Ruby of rural Fosston; six
children, Janice (Bill) DeLovely of Sauk Rapids,
Wayne (Debra) of Shevlin, James (Ann) of Shevlin,
Daniel (Laura) of Fosston, Julie (Mick) Marino of
Cass Lake and Virgil of Fosston; 18 grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred of Thief
River Falls; and many nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Milo
was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Delia
Marie; an infant grandson; his parents; two
brothers, David and Lawrence; and three sisters,
Grace Zimmer, Leone Murphy and Hattie
Monson.
