Erma Wilde, 85

Thief River Falls - Erma Wilde, 85, died Monday, September 24, 2001 at Oakland Parking Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at Wilde Obit 11 a.m. on Friday, September 28, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Mayfield Township of Pennington County.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Thursday, September 27, at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls and for one hour prior to services at the church Friday.

Erma Viola Bakken was born on March 17, 1916 on the Bakken homestead in Star Township of Pennington County, the daughter of Carl and Sina (Brakke) Bakken. She was confirmed at Ekelund Lutheran Church on July 6, 1930. She attended Little Oak school in Hickory Township of Pennington County. Erma worked as a cook for threshing crews and met her husband while working as a caretaker for a family in Highlanding.

On March 14, 1941, she was united in marriage to Fredrick Clifford Wilde at the Lutheran parsonage in Thief River Falls.

Erma was active at Ebenezer Church and with Ladies Aid and Aid Association for Lutherans.

She enjoyed rural farm life, baking bread, canning, crocheting, sewing and sharing her many talents with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Erma is survived by her husband, Fredrick of Thief River Falls; four daughters, Sharon (Roger) Forsberg and Diane (Douglas) Torblaa, both of Thief River Falls and Lois (Lynn) Anderson and Carol (Budd) Mermon, both of Lake Park; three sons, Ralph and Leslie (Trudy), both of Thief River Falls, and Dale (Rose) of Detroit Lakes; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Olson of Keewatin, and a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Wilde of Oklee.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis; a grandson, Joshua Wilde; her parents; six sisters, Hannah Arveson, Jennie Sunsdahl, Selma Nash, Lila Martinson, Palma Strand and Esther Solseng; and a brother, Alvin Bakken. A00003B2001SP26
