Ellen Wieland, 72

Red Lake Falls - Ellen Wieland, 72, died Friday, June 29, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, at St. John Wieland Obit Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Rev. Jeffrey S. Lytle officiating. Lana Violette was the organist, and the vocalists were Jennifer Wieland, Katie Raymond and John Weiss. Casketbearers were Jon Weiss, Jamie Derosier, Matthew Raymond, Andrew Raymond, Nathan Weiss and Todd Wieland. Burial was in Immanuel Cemetery at Wylie near Red Lake Falls with Johnson Funeral Service of Red Lake Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Ellen Mae Schultz was born on January 16, 1929 in Louisville township of Red Lake county, the daughter of Erdmann and Elsie (Wolff) Schultz. She was raised in Louisville township and graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls in 1946.

On December 7, 1947, Ellen was united in marriage to Richard Weiss at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wylie. The couple dairy and grain farmed in the Dorothy area. Richard died on August 1, 1982.

On June 27, 1987, Ellen was united in marriage to Kenny Wieland at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls. The couple resided on the farm until 1989 when they moved into Red Lake Falls.

Ellen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was active in St. John Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Red Lake Falls American Legion Auxiliary, the Red Lake Falls VFW Auxiliary and Busy Jane's Homemakers.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Kenny Wieland of Red Lake Falls; two sons, Gary (Terry) Weiss and Arlan (Barb) Weiss, both of Red Lake Falls; three daughters, Arlyce (Andy) Derosier of Bloomington and Sherry (Mick) Raymond and Kelly (Randy) Proulx, both of Red Lake Falls; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice (Delbert) Schuhmacher of Glenville and Marvis Arvidson of Red Lake Falls; and a brother, Arley (Irene) Schultz of Red Lake Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and a grandson, Brendan Proulx.
