Gull Lake - Kenneth Simon Wiebolt, 69, of East
Gull Lake, died in his home on January 6, 2004.
Funeral
services were held on
Saturday,
Jan. 10, at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in
Nisswa, with Father George Zeck officiating.
Interment was held at Pelican Woods Cemetery in
Brezzy Point.
Kenneth
Wiebolt was born October 18, 1934 in Ogema, to
Frederick and Leona (Knoblach) Wiebolt.
Ken
grew up in Ogema and worked as a butter maker in
his father's creamery while attending Waubun High
School. He graduated in 1952. After serving in the
U.S. Army, Ken worked his way through Moorhead
State University, graduating with a B.S. in
physical education and business in 1960. He
completed his Masters Degree in 1967. Ken was a
successful coach and teacher, touching the lives of
many. Ken worked within the Minnesota Community
College system, starting in 1968 at Thief River
Falls. He loved working with the students, serving
them in many capacities from counselor to
President. He retired as the Vice Provost at
Central Lakes College in 1995. Ken enjoyed travel,
woodworking, hunting, fishing and spending time
with family and friends.
Survivors
include Eunice, his spouse of 18 years; three sons,
Mike (Jani) of Breezy Point, Mark (Holly) of Pequot
Lakes and Scott of Maplewood; two stepsons, Dean
(Tanya) Dorholt of Warroad and David (Kelly)
Dorholt of St. Michael; nine grandchildren; two
brothers, Ervin (Lois) of Detroit Lakes and Delroy
(Betty) of Bemidji; and one sister, Jean Stangler
of Cannon Falls.
He
was preceded in death by his parents.
