Jennie Wickstrom, 86

Roseau - Jennie A. Wickstrom, 86, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at Bend, Ore., while on vacation.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 22, at Oiland Lutheran Church, rural Greenbush with Rev. LeRoy Flickinger and Rev. Larry Severson officiating. Phyllis Ellenson was the organist and Sara Ellenson was vocalist. Casketbearers were Jim Jenson, Glenn Iverson, Don Thompson, David Thompson, Charles Thompson and Don Blazek. Honorary casketbearers were Orvel Olson and Clifford Holm. Interment was in Oiland Lutheran Cemetery with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of the arrangements.

Jennie A. Wickstrom was born of December 23, 1915 in Soler Township, rural Greenbush, the daughter of Charles T. and Carrie (Graff) Thompson. She grew up and attended school in Soler Township.

On October 23, 1933, she married George William Wickstrom in Roseau. They farmed near Badger until moving to Roseau in 1943. While living in Roseau, Jennie worked for Sjoberg's Department Store, The Evergreen Motel, and worked alongside her husband at Culligan Soft Water. They also built several homes in the area. George Wickstrom died on July 18, 2000.

Jennie enjoyed painting and decorating. In her later years, she made and sold lefse to the community.

Survivors include two daughters, Georjean (Gary) Johnson of Wadena and Janice (Bruce) Johsnon of Orange, Calif.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Delford (Margaret) Thompson of Yakima, Wash.; three sisters, Thelma Jenson and Lizzie Kjersten, both of Greenbush and Hilda Blazek of Badger.

Preceding Jennie in death were her parents; husband; two brothers, Cambell and Belmer Thompson; and two sisters, Alpha Jenson and Belle Holm.
