Oklee - Lorna Wicks, 51, died on Sunday, January 18, 2004 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, with Father John Kleinwachter officiating. Casket bearers included Adam Wicks, Shawn Erickson, Travis Finseth, Jarrod Finseth, Adam Grove and Aric Grove. Interment was held at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.

Lorna Rae Wicks was born June 6, 1952 the daughter of Lloyd and Lorraine (Hoium) Mercil in Thief River Falls. She was baptized in Thief River Falls and confirmed at St. Joseph Church in Brooks where she was raised. She attended school in Brooks for 8 years, Plummer for two years and graduated from Oklee High School in 1970. She continued her education with continuing education, receiving certificates in early childhood development. On June 5, 1971 she was united in marriage to Michael Wicks in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks. Lorna worked at Inter County Head Start for over 20 years.

Lorna's family was very important to her especially her grandchildren, she enjoyed reading, yard work and traveling. She was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Church Choir, Ladies Cursillo, the Guild, and MCCL.

Survivors include her husband Michael Wicks of Oklee; two daughters, Danielle (Bill) Paradis of Oklee and Charity (Eric Monson) Wicks of Philadelphia, Penn.; two grandchildren; parents Lloyd Mercil of Thief River Falls and Lorraine Mercil of Brooks; four brothers and sisters Lynae (Sid) Finseth of Trail; Lynette (Gary) Grove of Hawley; Loring Mercil of Lake Oswego, Ore. and Lori (Doug Ambrose) Mercil of Palm Springs, Calif.; 13 nieces and nephews and seven great-nieces and nephews and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and an infant sister. A00003B2004JA28
