Roseau
- Cora Wicklander, 85, died Wednesday, June 13,
2001 at Sheltering Oaks Manor in Roseau.
Mass
of Christian burial was held on Saturday, June 16,
at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Roseau with a 9:15 a.m. rosary. Interment was in
Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with Helgeson
Funeral Home of Roseau in charge of the
arrangements.
Cora
Yvonne Lussier was born on July 17, 1915 in Brooks,
the daughter of Arthur and Anna "Mary" (Champagne)
Lussier. She grew up and attended school in the
Brooks and Crookston areas.
She
was united in marriage to Loyd Wicklander in 1935
in Brooks. Loyd worked as a carpenter in Roseau,
and Cora stayed at home to raise their six
children. Loyd died in 1968. Cora worked at J.C.
Penney, Polaris Industries and Marvin Windows
before retiring in 1980.
Following
retirement, she continued to be active in many area
senior citizen activities, was an avid sports fan
and enjoyed attending summer theater presentations,
concerts and local craft shows.
Cora
was a member of the Roseau VFW Auxiliary, holding
various posts including past president, and Sacred
Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors
include two daughters, Loris (Jack) Hebel of
Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada and Sharon (Clayton)
Mack of Thief River Falls; four sons, Larry (Mary)
Wicklander of Apple Valley, Allan Wicklander of
Badger, Kenneth (Sharon) Wicklander of Spokane,
Wash. and Michael of Houston, Texas; 17
grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three
brothers, Medore Lussier of Landers, Wy., Theodore
Lussier of Cohasset and LuVerne Lussier of
Summerville, S.C.; and four sisters, Madonna
Asselin of Milwaukee, Wisc., Marjorie Riendeau of
Grand Rapids, Pam Bruggermand of Milwaukee and
Jeannie O'Neill of Oklee.
Cora
was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two
brothers, Leon and Ralph Lussier; and two sisters,
Pearl Rivard and Bernice Bushy.
