Reinhold
Wetenkamp, 92
Bagley
- Reinhold Henry August Wetenkamp, 92, died on
Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the Greensview Care
Center in Bagley.
Memorial
services were conducted by Alden (Sonny) Wold at
the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Bagley
on Saturday, July 10.
Reinhold
Henry August "Bob" Wetenkamp was born November 27,
1911 to Wilheim H. and Emma M. (Ziemann) Wetenkamp
in Welcome.
He
was married to Dora "Doris" M. Nelson on September
3, 1938.
Bob
lived and farmed with Doris for many years, on the
place built up by his parents, near Red Lake Falls.
Together, they also operated the R & D Bargain
Shop in Thief River Falls. Bob also worked as a
salesman for Miller Ford in Red Lake Falls as well.
They
moved to Clearbrook in 1975, where they continued
to have a small farm which supplied the family and
many friends with meat, eggs and vegetables. Bob
continued to have a vegetable garden that he tended
until he was hospitalized in June 2004. This was
one of the things he and Doris always enjoyed.
Bob
also enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the
woods, watching and feeding wildlife, such as the
birds and deer, he could see out of his living room
window.
Bob
has long been known for his deep love of the Bible
and devoted much of his life to Bible study and
helping others learn Bible truths. Even though he
hadn't needed to get up to milk cows for many
years, Bob would often get up at four in the
morning to devote that quiet time to his studies.
He was an outstanding speaker, and volunteered much
of his time and resources in caring for the needs
of the congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses in
Thief River Falls, Gonvick and in later years
assisting with the congregation in Bagley.
Many
really enjoyed Bob's beautiful singing voice, and
marveled at how well he could carry a tune at 92
years.
He
is survived by one son, David (Joy Ann) Wetenkamp;
three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his
brothers, Christian, Arthur, William, Fred, George
and Erwin "Mike"; and sisters, Gertrude and Helen.
