- Rose Westrem, 86, died Friday, March 22, 2002
at Grand Rapids.
Funeral
services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday,
March 27) at Zion Lutheran Church of Blackduck with
Rev. Dean Oelfke officiating. Interment will be in
Rosy Cemetery.
Visitation
will be held for one hour prior to services. Cease
Funeral Home is in charge of the
arrangements.
Rose
Lillian Johnson was born on February 20, 1916 at
Fargo, N.D., the daughter of Ed and Nellie (Maish)
Johnson. She grew up in the Blackduck area,
attending school there.
On
March 17, 1934, Rose was united in marriage to
Andrew Karl Westrem at Blackduck. She cooked at
numerous area restaurants prior to her retirement
in 1980.
Rose
attended Alwood Lutheran Church and was a lifetime
member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She
enjoyed cooking, quilting, embroidery, going to
rummage sales, and traveling.
Rose
is survived by five daughters, Alvina (Ed) Masurka
of Grand Rapids, Carol Maier of El Paso, Texas, and
Annette (Lyle) Abrams, Doris Krueger, and Janice
Gomez, all of East Grand Forks; a son, Carl (Jean)
Westrem of Hibbing; a brother, Eddie (Gladys)
Johnson of Thief River Falls; three sisters, Fern
Curtis of Middle River, Eva Krogstad of Grand
Forks, N.D., and Elsie Vernlund of Hitchcock,
Texas; 23 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren;
and five great great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her husband.
