Darell Westberg Sr., 59

Walker - Darell E. Westberg Sr., 59, died Thursday, August 2, 2001.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 6, at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker. Burial services were held Tuesday, August 7, in Moose River Cemetery near Gatzke.

Darell E. Westberg was born on October 29, 1941 in Linsell township near Gatzke, the son of Evert and Anna Westberg. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing.

Darell worked at Sunrise Bakery in Hibbing, Eaton Char Lynn in Eden Prairie and Polaris Industries in Roseau. He also farmed near Gatzke and did custom harvesting.

In 1988, he married Barb Loe, and the couple moved to Walker where they owned Tri Cam, a multi-purpose repair shop. Darell and Barb ran the Heartland Racing Association for a number of years.

Darell enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with friends and family, story telling and all types of racing, especially cars and snowmobiles.

Darell is survived by his wife, Barb Westberg of Walker; two sons, Darell (Bonnie) Westberg Jr. of Owatonna and Kevin Westberg of Angle Inlet; a daughter, Robin (Brad) Borwege of Owatonna; four stepchildren, Laura (Donavon) Dahl of Middle River, Mike of Oregon, Tammy of South Dakota and Kris in Minnesota; six grandchildren; two brothers, Duane Westberg of St. Cloud and Dayle Westberg of Shingletown, Calif.; a sister, Dianne (Gary) Koski of Side Lake; his parents, Evert and Anna Westberg; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
