Thief
River Falls - James Wells, 84, died Monday,
October 8, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center in
Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services were held at
10:30
a.m. on Saturday, October 13, at Our Saviour's
Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev.
Terry Olson officiating. Wanda Vigness was the
organist, and Jan Nyflot was the soloist.
Casketbearers were Andrew Wells, Tim Wells, Glen
Peters, Charles Paulson, Corey Olson, Randy
Swenson, Kurt Stimpfl and Brandon Bourdon.
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River
Falls with Green Funeral Home in charge of the
arrangements.
Andrew
James Wells II was born on the family farm on the
Red Lake Indian Reservation in Beltrami County on
July 25, 1917, the son of Andrew and Myrtle (Brown)
Wells. He was baptized in the Christian faith. He
grew up in Reiner Township where he attended
Pershing School. He later attended the Northwest
School of Agriculture in Crookston. Following
school, Jim homesteaded what is now the family farm
in Beltrami County.
On
March 5, 1940, he was united in marriage to Iva
Thompson in Thief River Falls. The couple has since
resided on the family farm.
Jim
was an officer and member of Reiner Free Church and
a committee member of Beltrami County ASCS.
He
like to log, hunt, trap and do woodworking. He also
enjoyed helping elderly people, including family
members and neighbors.
Jim
is survived by his wife, Iva of Goodridge; two
daughters, Yvonne (special friend Glen Peters)
Pederson of Thief River Falls and Rita (Ken)
Parnham of Newfolden; a son, Andrew James (Carol)
Wells III of Bemidji; eight grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bernard
(Virginia) Wells of Goodridge.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters,
Ruth Burzell and Marion Sjulestad; three brothers,
Clinton, Lloyd and Raymond Wells; and a son-in-law,
