Ruth Weckwerth, 58

Thief River Falls - Ruth Weckwerth, 58, died Monday, February 18, 2002 at her home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 22, at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Dennis Raymond officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist, and the soloist was Diane Johnson. Casketbearers were Wally Holthusen, Wayne Konickson, Jack Nelson, Jerry Spangler, Davis Holthusen, Blair Holthusen, Greg Harris, Jim Haugen, and Ward Brink. Honorary casketbearers included all of Ruth's friends at Arctic Cat and members of the Fourtown/Grygla Sportsman Club. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Green Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth Sharon Hanson was born on November 10, 1943 in Bagley, the daughter of Arvin and Gertrude (Lockrem) Hanson. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Ruth attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School.

On March 7, 1961, Ruth was united in marriage to Jim Weckwerth at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. She worked at Arctic Cat from 1970 to 1981 and then at the Thief River Falls Chamber of Commerce until 1984. She returned to work as a secretary at Arctic Cat and worked there until July of 1999.

Ruth was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She served as treasurer of the LCW and was a member of the Thief River Falls Christian Women's Club. Since the early 1970's, she had also been a member of the Fourtown/ Grygla Sportsman Club and enjoyed snowmobiling.

Survivors include her husband, Jim of Thief River Falls; two sons, Jim Jr. of Prudoe Bay, Alaska and David (Tawnia) of Lake Stevens, Wash.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Arlis (Jerry) Hendrickson of Alexandria and Judy (Steve) Ahren of Seattle, Wash.; and a brother, David (Kay) Hanson of Fargo, N.D.
