- Dean Watne, 53, died Wednesday, January 30,
2002 at Clearwater Memorial Hospital in Bagley.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, February 2, at 2 p.m.
at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick with Rev.
Paul Brunsberg officiating. Sarah Gunning was the
organist. Casketbearers were Mike Brunsberg, Jeff
Brunsberg, Eric Swanson, Steve Fischer, Nathan
Watne, and Joseph Allen. Interment was in Samhold
Lutheran Cemetery in Gonvick with Cease Funeral
Home of Bagley in charge of the arrangements.
Dean
Watne was born on July 24, 1948 at Fosston, the son
of Lewie and Donna (Eck) Watne. He was baptized on
January 9, 1949 at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully
and confirmed on June 3, 1962. He attended school
in Gonvick, graduating from Gonvick High School in
1966. He was on the wrestling team at Waldorf
College in Forrest City, Iowa, and graduated in
1968. Dean entered the US Marine Corp in 1969 and
was stationed in Okinawa prior to his honorable
discharge in 1975.
In
1975, he married Daisy Braaten. He worked
construction and in his later year, he enjoyed
trading and selling antiques.
Dean
was a member of Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick
and the Teamsters Union.
He
enjoyed fishing, reading, and spending time with
children.
Dean
is survived by a daughter, Gwen (Dave) Paulson of
Blaine; a grandson; his mother, Donna Watne of
Gonvick; five sisters, LaVonne (Paul) Brunsberg of
Clearbrook, his twin, Diane (Bruce) Brunsberg of
Clearbrook, Bonnie (Jim) Fischer of Bagley, Carol
(Larry) Swanson of Clearbrook, and Kathy (Don)
DuCote of Clearbrook; five brothers, Gary (Deb)
Watne of Moorhead, Les Watne of Gonvick, Bill Watne
of Lolo, Mont., Tory (Gretchen) Watne of Grand
Rapids, and Jon Watne of Pine Lake; a
sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his father and a brother,
Dick Watne.
