Mary
Jean Koster, the daughter of Frances (Schuldt) and
Otto Koster, was born on May 6, 1923 in rural
Jackson County. She attended high school in
Lakefield and later received her registered nurses

to her marriage she worked at an Army

They were married for 43 years until his passing.
For seven years she worked in Worthington as an
obstetrical nurse and assisted in thousands of
births. She also worked as a nurse in Greenbush,
Roseau and after 17 years as an operating room
nurse in Thief River Falls, she returned to the
farm south of Warroad. Mary was then employed by
Marvin Windows and Doors for the next 12 years
until retiring in 1989.
Mary
was an avid bowler and seamstress. She enjoyed
carpentry work, gardening and farming. Mary was
certainly a jack of all trades. She also enjoyed
driving her U-Minneapolis Tractor as well as
helping her family, which often included helping
Nikki to the bus.

brother, Roland Koster of Lakefield; sisters, Edith
Daykin of Rocky River, Ohio and Ethel Rodriguez of
