River Falls - Mary Walrath, 88, died Friday,
June 1, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief
River Falls.
Mass
of Christian burial was
held
at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, at St. Bernard's
Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Father
Tim Bushy presiding. Interment will be in Sacred
Heart Catholic Cemetery at Raymond at noon on
Thursday, June 7.
Mary
Rosamond Hardebeck was born on April 26, 1913 in
Maynard, the daughter of Albert Herman and Lucy
Magdelene (Kasel) Hardebeck. She was baptized on
May 29, 1913 at St. Clara's Catholic Church in
Clara City and was later confirmed there. She
attended a rural school near Raymond and St.
Clara's Catholic School in Clara City. She
graduated from Roseau High School in
1978.
On
February 26, 1935, Mary was united in marriage to
Glen Eugene Walrath in Willmar. The couple farmed
near Raymond until 1949 when they moved to Roseau.
Mary worked at The Guest House for 11 years and
also for Roseau Children's Home.
Mary
was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and
was a former member of Sacred Heart Ladies Aid,
Farmer's Union, the DFL and Roseau Homemakers
Club.
She
enjoyed reading, traveling, crocheting, listening
to country music and especially spending time with
her children and grandchildren.
Mary
is survived by five daughters, Margaret (Eugene)
Dessellier of Babbitt, Patricia (Isadore) Kramer of
Bismarck, N.D., Katherine (Richard) Koch of Mora,
Diane (Donald) Vanusek of Blaine and Genevieve
(Albin) Pulczinski of Greenbush; four sons, Robert
(Patricia) Walrath of Stow, Mass., Charles
(Theresa) Walrath of Thief River Falls, James
(Mary) Walrath of Chippewa Falls, Wisc. and Michael
(Tracy) Walrath of Bothell, Wash.; 22
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a
sister-in-law.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, in
1993; an infant daughter, Carolyn Jean; two
brothers, Clarence and George; a sister, Florence
Harms; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; and a
son-in-law, Roland Hultberg.
