Thief
River Falls - Richard Vogen, 87, died
Wednesday, March 14, 2001 at Northwest Medical
Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services were held on
Saturday,
March 17, at 2 p.m. at Peterson-Stohlberg Funeral
Chapel in Minneapolis. Casketbearers included
grandsons Jeff Poole, Brett Poole, James Poole,
Rick Hamilton, Joel Hamilton, Mike Hamilton and
Brandon Therrien. Honorary casketbearers were
Richard's granddaughters, Dena Klockman and
Kristine Mehrkens. Interment was in Hillside
Cemetery in Minneapolis with Green Funeral Home of
Thief River Falls in charge of the
arrangements.
Richard
Steven Vogen was born on August 1, 1913 in
Minneapolis, the son of Cornelius and Julia
(Fisher) Vogen. He grew up in southeast Minneapolis
and attended Edison High School. When he was 16
years old, he began working for Webster Lumber
Company, building doors for grain cars. He then
worked as a machinist at Minneapolis Moline for a
few years. Richard later worked for NW Screw
Products and NW Swissmatic in New Hope. He retired
in 1982.
He
enjoyed nature, walking, admiring the outdoors and
especially spending time with his
family.
Richard
is survived by three daughters, Jone (Munro) Poole
of Thief River Falls and Linda (Bill) Hamilton and
Mary (Greg) Therrien, both of Minneapolis; nine
grandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Jones)
Vogen on July 4, 1985; his parents; four brothers,
Oscar, Cornelius, Barney and Raymond; and two
sisters, Elvira Jones and Susan Lenning.
