Lynn Verbout, 53

Pembina, N.D. - Lynn Verbout, 53, formerly of Thief River Falls, died Saturday, July 20, 2002 at his home in Pembina, N.D.

Visitation will take place on Verbout, Lynn photo Wednesday, July 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 25 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. Interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Wayne Verbout, David Rundell, Steve Rundell, Dale Anderson, Jimmy Verbout, Ray Olsen, Doc Johannason and Leo Urlaub. All of Lynn's grandchildren will serve as honorary casketbearers.

Lynn Allen Verbout was born January 22, 1949, the son of Hippolet and Hazel (Hill) Verbout in Thief River Falls. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Clements Church and attended school in Grygla.

On February 14, 1970, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Louise Olsen at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. The couple made their home in Grygla. Lynn continued to work at the Land O'Lakes turkey plant in Thief River Falls where he'd been employed since the age of 16. He worked there for over 25 years.

The couple then moved to Pembina, N.D. and Lynn began working for Motor Coach Industries where he was still working as an assembler.

Lynn enjoyed his grandchildren and family the most and spending time with them meant everything to him. He also liked to spend time hunting, fishing, cooking and gardening. Lynn also enjoyed nature and watching and feeding the birds.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, Pembina, N.D.; two sons, Chris (Beth) Olsen, Red Lake Falls, and Michael (fiancee, Rozella) Verbout, Thief River Falls; two daughters, Nancy (fiance, Roger Olson) Verbout, Thief River Falls, and Karen (Dion) Larson, Strandquist; 15 grandchildren; four brothers, Melvin (Irene), Fargo, N.D., and Robert (Mary Ann), Donald (Angeline), and Wayne (Marie Ann), all of Grygla; four sisters, Eileen (Harold) Miller, Moorhead, Grace (Ralph) Rundell, Grygla, Deloris (Conrad) Gracier, Junction City, Kan., and Betty Lou (Robert) Willett, Dilworth.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Rolland; a grandson; and a nephew.
