June Van Der Veen, 85

Sauk Centre - June M. Van Der Veen, 85, died Friday, March 29, 2002 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at First United Church of Christ in Sauk Center.

June Marie Van Westerhuizen was born on February 8, 1917 in Canora, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Jost and Anna (Ver Doorn) Van Westerhuizen.

On June 29, 1937, she was united in marriage to Martin Van Der Veen in Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple resided in Sioux Falls for 11 years before moving to the Glenwood/ Brooten area where they farmed until their retirement in 1978. The couple moved to Kandota Township in Todd County. June had resided at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre since June of 1997.

She was a very active member of First United Church of Christ and its Ladies' Circle. She was also a former 4-H leader.

June is survived by her husband, Martin Van Der Veen of Sauk Centre; three daughters, Carole (Stanley) Evans of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., Judy (Harlan) Mostrom of Thief River Falls, and Cyndia (Robert) Schneck of Hillsboro, N.D.; two sons, Marlin (Ching) Van Der Veen of Saipan and Daniel (Shari) Van Der Veen of Faribault; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donna; her parents; four sisters, Elsie Mustard, Jeanette Baker, Johanna TerWee, and Pearl Johnson; and two brothers, Joe and Henry Van Westerhuizen.
