Alfred Tureson, 89

Hallock - Alfred E. Tureson, 89, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 13, at First Presbyterian Church in Hallock. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Hallock with Hughes Funeral Home of Hallock in charge of the arrangements.

Alfred E. Tureson was born on June 3, 1911 on the family farm in Thompson township near Hallock, the son of Sander and Martha (Pearson) Tureson. He attended country school and farmed with his brothers, Oscar and Fred. Alfred served with the Army Medical Corps during World War II.

On May 19, 1956, he was united in marriage to Pearl Swanson at Thief River Falls. The couple settled in Hallock. Alfred retired in 1990. Pearl died on March 3, 1996.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Darlyne Holmgren of Tenstrike and Marlys (Dennis) Anderson of Thief River Falls; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Fred of Hallock, Walter of Rockford, Ill. and Lloyd of Morristown, N.J.; a sister, Edna Doremus of Boonton, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Iver, Eddie and Oscar; and four sisters, Ida, Gerda, Clara and Freda. A00003B2000AP18
