Warroad
- Katherine Travnicek, 84, formerly of Thief
River Falls, died on Thursday, July 8, at the
Warroad Care Center in Warroad.
Memorial
Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 19,
at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River
Falls, with Father Larry Wieseler presiding.
Interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
Visitation
will be held one hour prior to the service in the
church.
Katherine
Naomi Jacobson was born December 24, 1919 in Thief
River Falls, the daughter of Hans H. and Jennie
Amanda (Berg) Jacobson. She was baptized and
confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River
Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in
1938. Katherine entered the Catholic faith in
December of 2003.
On
August 30, 1940 she was united in marriage to Leo
Vincent Travnicek in Thief River Falls, where the
couple made their home. She worked for Wards,
Woolworth's, and Carl Hillard Grocery Store.
She
was an avid reader, loved flowers, birds and was a
member of the VFW Auxiliary in Thief River Falls.
Katherine
is survived by children, Jennifer (Robert)
Hilligoss of Warroad, Patrick (Jean) Travnicek of
Minot, N.D.; four grandchildren; sisters, Mildred
Bakke of Thief River Falls, Lorraine (Steve) Brown
of St. Paul; and one brother, Kermit (Betty)
Eastman of St. Cloud, along with many nieces and
nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Leo;
brothers, Joe Norman and Edwin Jacobson; half
brother, Gordon Eastman; sisters, Violette
Jacobson, Alice Eastman, Helen Christensen,
Margaret Amren and Gladys Erickson.
