Agnes Tieman, 89

Goodridge - Agnes Tieman, 89, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Tieman, Agnes Saturday, January 18 at Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Thief River Falls with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Marie Dahlen was the organist and a duet was sung by Rev. Fred and Sheryl Westerhold. Casketbearers were Donald Longevan, Myles Olson, Ronnie Philipp, Curtis Tieman, Brett Tieman and Marvin Swanson. Interment was in Bethany Cemetery in Smiley Township of Pennington County.

Agnes Anenson was born on September 2, 1913, the daughter of Anders and Anna (Halvorson) Anenson in Kratka Township of Pennington County. She was baptized and confirmed at Telemarken Lutheran Church. She grew up and attended Lincoln High School for three years and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1929. She also attended Moorhead State Teachers College. She was a country school teacher for several years.

On January 2, 1935, Agnes was united in marriage to Wallace E. Tieman in Mavie. The couple farmed, raising small grain and livestock. Wallace and Agnes enjoyed 16 winters in McAllen, Texas, where they spend their time sight-seeing, visiting with friends, participating in flea markets and playing cards with their fellow winter Texans. They were experienced whist players and enjoyed playing with their sons, Elwood and Wayne.

Agnes was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and superintendent and WELCA member and officer. She always had a large garden and was a member of the Mocassin Garden Club for many years. Agnes enjoyed cooking homemade bread and buns.

Survivors include her husband, Wallace; sons, Elwood (Rhodella) of Goodridge and Wayne (Lenay) of Cavalier, N.D.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elline; and brothers, Andrew, Henry, Orin and Albin. A00003B2002JA22
