Esther Thorssen, 97

Fosston - Esther Thorssen, 97, died on Sunday, January 19, 2003 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 24 at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully with Michael Sletto officiating. Interment will be held in Salem Lutheran Cemetery of rural Gully. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Esther Elizabeth Erickson was born on March 19, 1905, the daughter of Andrew and Margaret (Person) Erickson in Eden Township in rural Gully. She was confirmed at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully. She attended grade school in Gully, graduated from Bemidji High School and attended Bemidji State Teachers' College.

In 1933, she was united in marriage to Ernest Thorssen in Fosston. Esther was a long-time resident of the Gully area and was a faithful worker at Salem Lutheran Church until its closing. She then became a member of Lund Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies' Aid. She enjoyed making lefse.

Survivors include her daughter, Eunice (David) McConaughy of Rolling Hills Estate, Calif.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Thorssen of Gully; and many nieces and friends.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; a son, Elliot; one granddaughter; and her parents.
