Michael Thompson, 72

International Falls - Michael Thompson, 72, died Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Falls Memorial Hospital in International Falls.

Services were held on Thursday, March 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Meyer, OMI, officiating. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery with Green-Larsen Mortuary, Inc. of International Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Michael Robert Thompson was born on December 30, 1929 in Thief River Falls, the son of Henry and Luella Thompson. He grew up in International Falls and Rockford, Ill.

In 1949, he married Harriet Erickson, and the couple moved to Sacramento, Calif. and resided there for a short time before returning to International Falls where Michael was employed by Mando from 1951 until 1961.

In 1962, he started his "Mike the Painter" business. He was a member of Painters' Local Union 106 and continued to work until recently.

In 1974, he married LeVaun Besch.

Survivors include three daughters, Pam (Gary) Saunders of International Falls, Sandy (Steven) Roth of Stillwater, and Pat Green of Bartlett, Ill.; three stepsons, Randy (Jane) Besch, Freeman (Lisa) Besch, and Rocky (Linda) Besch, all of International Falls; his mother, Luella Henrickson of Thief River Falls; his stepmother, Edna Thompson; a half-sister, Leslie (Bill) Knoblauch of Coon Rapids; a stepsister, Rojean (Mike) Schreiber of Dallas, Texas; a stepbrother, Stan Thompson of Coon Rapids; a sister-in-law; eight grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, LeVaun; his father; a brother, Harvey Thompson; his stepfather, Edward Henrickson; and a stepson, Ricky Besch.
