Warroad
- Harley Jacob Thompson, 88, died on Thursday,
August 29, 2002 at the Warroad Care Center in
Warroad.
Funeral
services were held on
Monday,
September 2 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad.
Interment was in the America Cemetery, rural
Warroad.
Harley
Jacob Thompson was born on August 12, 1914, the son
of Harry and Rose (Brandli) Thompson in Warroad. He
grew up in Clear River Township of Roseau County.
He attended the Lee Lewis School in Clear River
through the 8th grade. Harley started farming
shortly after his schooling.
On
July 26, 1941, he married Evelyn Fish in Warroad.
The couple raised eight children while Harley
farmed small grain and cattle in addition to
logging. He entered the Warroad Care Center in
1995.
Harley
enjoyed deer hunting, dancing, playing cards and
breaking in horses. He was a member of the Warroad
Eagles, Zion Lutheran Church and was a State Fire
Warden for 35 years.
Survivors
include his children, Shirley (Ronald) Nelson of
Thief River Falls, Warren (Carol) of Warroad, Glen
(special friend, Gabby) of Warroad, Bonnie (Mark)
Beedy of Moorhead, Don (Ardis) of Warroad, Wanda
(Paul) Rutherford of Euclid and Susan (John)
Thunder of Buffalo Point, Manitoba;
daughter-in-law, Sherry Thompson of Warroad; 31
grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings,
Mildred Hjermstad of Wanamingo, Leon Thompson of
International Falls, Dorothy Olson of Warroad, Dean
(Norma) Thompson of Warroad, Curtis (Daphne)
Thompson of Farmington, Vivian (Bernie) Burggraf of
Roseau and Walter (friend, Karen) Thompson of
Warroad.
Harley
was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn;
son, Leonard; two grandchildren; two brothers,
Maynard and Carol; and an infant sister.
