Evelyn Thompson, 79

Warroad -- Evelyn O. Thompson, 79, died August 2, 2001, in the Roseau Area Hospital.

Thompson, the daughter of Elsworth and Edith (Hathaway) Fish was born on July 1, 1922 in Warroad. She was raised in Warroad and went to school in the Conifer Country School south of Warroad.

On July 26, 1941 she married Harley Thompson in Warroad. They continued to live in Warroad for the rest of their lives raising eight children. They farmed most of those years and Evelyn was known for her cooking, baking and card playing. She was a cook at Cal's restaurant, as well as many other restaurants and was known for her homemade pies and great bread. She also worked at the community center, and later volunteered there.

She is survived by her children: Shirley (Ronald) Nelson of Thief River Falls; Warren (Carol) Thompson of Warroad; Glen and special friend Gabby of Warroad; Bonnie (Mark) Beedy of Moorhead; Don (Ardis) Thompson of Warroad; Wanda (Paul) Rutherford of Euclid; Susan (John) Thunder of Buffalo Point, Manitoba, Canada; 31 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and, siblings: Donald (Mary Ellen) Fish of International Falls; Janice Molstad of Warroad; Douglas (Shella) Fish of Parkers Prairie; and Larry (Sandy) Fish of Thief River Falls; and one uncle, Harold (Josephine) Hathaway of Warroad.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Leonard, and siblings, Bert, Ethel, Rachel and Howard and grandchildren Kimberly and Beth Ann.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, August 7, at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad.
