James Temple, 80

Red Lake Falls - James Temple, 80, died on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at his home in Red Lake Falls.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, October 10 from Temple, James 5 to 9 p.m. at the American Legion Club in Bagley.

James Temple was born on December 28, 1921 in Duluth. He was raised in the Roseau area by his grandparents where he spent his childhood and young adulthood working on the farm. In 1944, he married Marie Anderson in northern Minnesota. Soon after, the family relocated to North Dakota where Jim worked in the oil fields near Tioga, N.D. In 1959, the family moved to Washington where Jim found work as a heavy equipment operator. These jobs moved him to far away places such as the Great Alaska Pipeline, Greenland and the Hoover Dam. Later in life, Jim moved back to northern Minnesota, including Big Falls, Bagley and Red Lake Falls where he logged and bought and sold automobiles.

Jim enjoyed watching and reading westerns, dealing old cars and spending time with his many lifelong friends. He also enjoyed telling the stories of his many adventures and travels.

Survivors include one son, Terry of Bathell, Wash.; four daughters, Sandy (Larry) Key of Redmond, Wash., Linda (Bill) Hallman of LaGrande, Ore., Jane (Roger) Jacobson of Kirkland, Wash. and Sherry (Scott) Nishimato of Auburn, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; and a son, Tom. A00003B2002OT09
