Marjorie Teigland, 91

Thief River Falls - Marjorie "Alice" Teigland, 91, died Sunday, February 17, 2002 at her home in Thief River Falls.

A funeral service will be held at Teigland obit 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, at New Life Family Worship Center in Thief River Falls with Rev. George Bunnell officiating. Gloria Ness will be the organist. Cyndi Onkka and Gloria Ness will present a duet, and Pastor Virgil Rasmussen will be the soloist. Marjorie's great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren will serve as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers will include all of her grandchildren. Interment will be in Goodridge Cemetery in Goodridge Township of Pennington County.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Friday, February 22, at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church Saturday.

Marjorie Alice Stephenson was born on April 11, 1910 at Pelican Rapids, the daughter of Melvin and Margaret (Richards) Stephenson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At a young age, Marjorie moved with her family to Goodridge. She attended school there, graduating from Goodridge High School in 1929.

After graduation, she moved to Waukegan, Ill. where she was united in marriage to Allen Teigland on September 30, 1929. The couple soon returned to Goodridge where they worked with her father on the family farm and at the Goodridge Restaurant. Marjorie and Allen then moved to the Grygla area where they farmed until 1974 when they moved to Thief River Falls. Allen died on June 18, 1989.

Alice enjoyed reading, canning, walking, eating peanut butter cookies and drinking milk, and especially, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include six children, Ronnie (Irene) and Beverly Doss, both of East Grand Forks, Wendell (Audrey), Janice (David) Sheridan, and Sharon (John) Flom, all of Thief River Falls, and Sandra Anderson of International Falls; 32 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and 23 great great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by two sons, Dale and Gerald Teigland; an infant daughter, Ramona Teigland; two grandsons in infancy; her parents; her husband; a sister, Muriel Newton; and a brother, Laurel Stephenson.
