- Anna "Wilruth" Tapa, 94, died on Friday,
September 12, 2003 at the Roseau Area Hospital in
Roseau.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, September 16 at the
Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime. Interment was in
Bethesda Cemetery.
Anna
"Wilruth" Knutson was born on July 5, 1909 in
Shevlin, the daughter of Edward and Inga (Blue)
Knutson. She moved with her family when she was a
year old to Reine Township of Roseau County, where
she attended country school.
On
September 18, 1935, she was united in marriage to
John Tapa. The couple lived in Reine Township,
where they farmed and raised their children. She
enjoyed picking berried, cooking, baking,
gardening, walking and bird watching. Wilruth was
happiest when she was with her grandchildren. She
was also a member of the Bethesda Lutheran
Church.
Survivors
include her children, Ruth (Stanley) Meyer of
Aurora, Joann (Kenneth) Brateng of Wannaska, Rose
Jesme of Warroad, John (Frances) Tapa of Shiloh,
Ga., Robert Tapa of Wannaska and Janice (Delray)
Larson of Gatzke; 24 grandchildren; 52
great-grandchildren; many great
great-grandchildren; and sisters, Alice (Myron)
Peterson of Richland, Wash., and Joyce Huskin of
Washington.
Wilruth
was preceded in death by her husband, John;
sisters, Esther Markstrom, Edith Markstrom and
Gladys Dole; a brother, Arvid Knutson; and a
granddaughter.
