Thief
River Falls - Lillian Tanem, 89, died on
Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Northwest Medical
Center, CNC Unit, in Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March
20 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge with the
Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Margie Iverson will
be the organist and casketbearers will be Greg
Tanem, John Tanem, Michael Tanem, Debbie Bakken,
Pam Gonzagowski and Paulette Carter. Interment will
be in the Western National Cemetery in rural
Goodridge. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m.
on Wednesday, March 19 at the Johnson-Green Funeral
Home in Thief River Falls with a 6:30 p.m. prayer
service.
Lillian
Jeanette Hruby was born on January 9, 1914, the
daughter of Benjamin and Rosalie (Edel) Hruby in
Star Township of Pennington County. She was
baptized at home. She grew up and attended country
school in Erie.
On
December 2, 1932, Lillian was united in marriage to
John Tanem in Mavie. She was a homemaker and also
worked at the General Store in Erie. She also
worked as a cook for the Goodridge Public School
District. Lillian was a member of Faith Lutheran
Church in Goodridge. She loved to read, garden, can
and bake, and especially enjoyed baking cookies for
her grandchildren. She also liked to keep up with
current events.
Survivors
include sons, Lloyd (Arlene) of Hastings and Darwin
(Pauline) of Oak Creek, Wisc.; six grandchildren;
10 great-grandchildren; a great great-grandchild;
and three sisters, Adeline Prevost of Oklee, Violet
Radneicki of New York Mills and Delores Healy of
San Mateo, Calif.
Lillian
was preceded in death by her husband, John; an
infant daughter, Josette; her parents; sisters,
Francis Sunsdahl, Louise Sanstrum, Alice Parsons
and Rosie Aaknes; and brothers, Lewis and Rudolph
