N.D. - Sally C. Swiggum, 84, died Monday, May
20, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Fargo,
N.D.
Services
were held Friday, May 24, at Hanson-Runsvold
Funeral Home in Fargo. Interment was in Riverside
Cemetery in Fargo.
Sally
Christine Dahl was born on June 16, 1917 in Doyon,
N.D., the daughter of John and Ovedia (Amundson)
Dahl. She grew up in Fargo where she attended
school at Sacred Heart Academy.
In 1933,
Sally married Chester Madson She worked as a
bartender at various establishments in Fargo before
going to work as a waitress and then cashier for
Pioneer Mutual Insurance, working there until her
retirement.
On August
14, 1945, Sally married Carl Swiggum. She had
resided at Manor Care Nursing Home for the past two
and one-half years.
She
enjoyed playing cards, telling jokes, stays at her
lake cabin, feeding the birds at the nursing home,
and especially, helping others.
Sally is
survived by two daughters, Carol (Floyd) Klopp of
Thief River Falls and Karen Orvik of Phoenix,
Ariz.; three stepchildren, Chuck Swiggum, James
(Carol) Swiggum, and Patricia (Denny) Wateland, all
of Fargo; six grandchildren; and 16
great-grandchildren.
Preceding
her in death were her parents; a son, Darrell
Madson; her husbands; special friend, Ernie Grimm;
and several brothers and sisters.
