Peggy Swanson, 43

Thief River Falls - Peggy Swanson, 43, died on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Swanson, Peggy Tuesday, March 4 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with the Rev. Dennis Raymond officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist and Diane Johnson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Jerry Altendorf, Mike Swanson, David Swanson, Richard Forness, Sam Forness and Jim Forness.

Peggy Ann Forness was born on August 4, 1959, the daughter of Donald and Lois (Jones) Forness in Ely. She was baptized at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Babbitt and attended elementary school and high school in Babbitt. Following high school, she attended Vermillion Community College in Ely.

On July 23, 1986, she was united in marriage to Steven E. Swanson. The couple made their home in Embarrass until 1990, when they moved to Drayton, N.D. and Hazen, N.D. for six years. In 1996, they moved to Thief River Falls.

Peggy worked as the city forrester in Hazen, N.D. and was a caretaker for an elderly woman in Drayton, N.D. While living in Thief River Falls, she worked at Lincoln High School as a cleaner and in the welding department at Arctic Cat, Inc. Most recently, Peggy worked as a lunch caterer for the Evergreen. She enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and gardening. Peggy loved spending time with her four grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Babbitt.

Survivors include her husband, Steve; two daughters, Robin (Aaron) Myers of Thief River Falls and Toni Slining of Thief River Falls; four grandchildren; her parents, Lois Church of Pillager, Ore. and Donald Forness of Seattle, Wash.; three brothers, Richard Forness of Ely, Sam Forness of Marysville, Wash. and Jimmy Forness of Elko, Nev.; one sister, Evelyn Conor of Everett, Wash.; two half-sisters, Sandra Mecham of Medford, Ore. and Pam Kachmarzinski of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jenny Lynn Slining; her step-father, Al Church; and her grandparents.
