Lake
Bronson - Lennart Swanson, 84, died on Tuesday,
April 15, 2003 at the Kittson Memorial Healthcare
Center in Hallock.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, April 19, at the
Evangelical Mission Covenant Church in Kennedy with
the Rev. Steve Thompson officiating. Ruth Gustafson
was the organist and Lyndon Johnson was the
soloist. Casketbearers were Nicholas Cosek, Joel
Anderson, Fred Adams, Ronald Peterson, Virgil Poole
and Jon Swenson. Honorary casketbearers were Vernon
Johnson, Arnold Hilde, Melroe Gunnarson, Grant
Adams, Carl Anderson, Morris Johnson, Rudy
Gustafson and Willard Petersen. Interment was in
Jupiter Community Cemetery.
Lennart
J. Swanson was born on August 25, 1918, the son of
Linder and Julia (Johnson) Swanson, in Jupiter
Township of Kittson County. He attended school in
Lake Bronson and graduated from high school in
1937.
On
December 7, 1946, he married Margaret Gustafson of
Karlstad. The couple farmed near Lake Bronson for
many years, producing high quality Hereford cattle,
certified seed potatoes and grains. Lennart served
as the Jupiter Township clerk for 56 years and also
served on the Lake Bronson School Board, Community
Covenant Church Board and the Jupiter Cemetery
Board. Lennart and Margaret seldom had time to
travel, but to celebrate their 50th anniversary,
they took a trip to California.
Survivors
include his wife, Margaret; three daughters,
Marilyn (Larry) Peterson of Eden Valley, Patricia
Anderson of Wayzata, and Joyce Cosek of Chicago,
Ill.; a son, Lowell (Lori) of New Rockford, N.D.;
seven grandchildren; a sister-in-law; and a
niece.
Lennart
was preceded in death by his parents and two
nephews.
