Swanson, 81
Thief
River Falls - Lawrence M. Swanson, 81, died on
August 9, 2003.
Graveside
services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday,
September 13 at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River
Falls.
Lawrence
was born in Thief River Falls on September 14, 1921
and graduated from Lincoln High School. After high
school, he began work as an engineer and designer
for the United States Department of the Navy. He
flew with the United States Army Aircorps
461st bomb group during World War II.
Following the war, Lawrence returned to work with
the Navy, where his concept of the naval
minesweeper MK-105 was developed under his
supervision at Edo Corporation.
Survivors
include his wife, Mavis C. Richards-Swanson; a son,
Richard; three granddaughters; and two
great-grandchildren.
Lawrence
was preceded in death by his daughter, Marlene
Linn.
