Sauve, Eva1Red Lake Falls - Eva Sauve, 100, died Sunday, March 07, 2004, at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 11 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Casket bearers included all of Eva's grandchildren. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Brooks.

Visitation will be Thursday starting at noon until the time of service at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls.

Marie Eva Carriere was born May 6, 1903, at Emardville Township of Brooks, the daughter of Joseph and Delina (Geraurd) Carriere. She grew up and attended country school in Brooks and St. Joseph's Academy in Crookston.

She married Isaac Sauve, June 18, 1929 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brooks. They farmed near Brooks until 1951, then moved to Thief River Falls. In 1955 they moved to East Grand Forks, where she was a housekeeper for Father Merth. They retired to Red Lake Falls in 1969 and opened a furniture upholstery shop, a business that grew from a hobby. In 1995, the couple moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage. Isaac died in 1998.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Eva liked cooking, baking, especially pies and cookies and gardening. In May 2003, she celebrated her 100th birthday.

Survivors include four sons: Virgil (Doriene) Sauve of St. Paul, Raymond (Bernice) Sauve of Bemidji, Melvin (Jeanne) Sauve of St. Paul and Darel (Darlene) Sauve of Elon College, N.C.; daughter Noella (William) Weise of St. Louis, Mo.; 28 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Isaac; four infant children; two brothers; and five sisters. A00003B2004MR10
