Mabel Stromberg, 92

Strandquist - Mabel Stromberg, 92, died on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at Karlstad Healthcare Center.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 28 at Bethesda Mabel Stromberg Lutheran Church in Strandquist with Rev. David Pretty officiating. Ellen Johnson was the organist, Duane Ellingson was the pianist and Vangie Carlson was the soloist. Special music included "Nearer My God to Thee," "Amazing Grace," "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go." Casketbearers were Andy Rud, Billy Olson, Darrin Foss, Ron Lorenson, Wally Rud and Palmer Rud. Honorary casketbearers were all those who attended the service. Interment was in Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery.

Mabel Stromberg was born on December 4, 1909, the daughter of John and Ingeborg (Olson) Stromberg in West Valley Township near Strandquist. She attended school in the former Sunnyside School and was baptized and confirmed in the English Lutheran Church. Mabel was a housekeeper for John Sandberg of Warren for many years. During the 1940s, she was employed in the Twin Cities. In 1955, she returned home to care for her ailing mother who died January 31, 1956. She remained at home to care for her father until he died on November 25, 1968. She continued living in Strandquist until she entered the Karlstad Healthcare Center in June of 1995.

Survivors include five nieces; four nephews; a sister-in-law, Gladys Stromberg of Newfolden; and numerous grand- and great-grandnieces and nephews and cousins.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Maynard, Willard and Arthur; two sisters, Anna Rud and Selma Weiler; five nephews; a grandnephew; and two brothers-in-law, Andrew Rud and Richard Weiler.
