Odella Strandberg, 66

Williams - Odella Strandberg, 66, died Monday, January 14, 2002 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.

Funeral services were held on Strandberg Obit Friday, January 18, at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Middle River with Rev. Mary Ronning officiating. Lois Peterson was the organist, and Deland Elseth was the soloist. Casketbearers included nephews Guy Strandberg, Wayne Hanson, Casey Johnson, Alan Strandberg, Terry Strandberg and Don Johnson. Honorary casketbearers included grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jared and Tammy Hemmah; Holly and Krissy Strandberg; Sheree Eilertson; Shane, Justin, Mick and Bryce Nelson; and Mandy, Drake, Madison and Colton Lee. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Strathcona with Collins Funeral Home of Middle River in charge of the arrangements.

Odella Bessie Johnson was born on October 7, 1935 at Greenbush, the daughter of Theodore and Clara (LeBlanc) Johnson. She grew up and attended school in the Strathcona community and graduated from Greenbush High School in 1953. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On June 26, 1953, Odella was united in marriage to Dile Strandberg at Wichita, Kan. The couple lived at Virginia before moving to Middle River. They later moved to the family farm in Huntly Township of Marshall County near Middle River. In 1981, they moved to Williams where Odella continued to resided after Dile died on February 15, 1990.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Middle River and the Middle River American Legion Auxiliary.

Odella enjoyed fishing, working in her yard and garden, creating and maintaining her lake home, spending time outdoors, watching westerns on television, and especially, spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Jerry (Arlys) of Strathcona; two daughters, Rose (LaVerne) Nelson of Middle River and Cladell (Larry) Nelson of East Grand Forks; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Theodore (Laura) of Park Rapids, Glenn (Ilene) of Warroad and Larry (Judy) of Middle River; three sisters, Luella (Norman) Strandberg of Strathcona, Karen (James) Johnson of St. Paul and Connie Elseth of Fargo, N.D.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Odella was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Josie Hanson. A00003B2002JA23
