Steven Stokke, 57

Thief River Falls - Steven J. Stokke, 57, died on Friday, January 17, 2003 at his home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Stokke, Steve Tuesday, January 21 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist and Haeli Stokke was the soloist. Casketbearers were Nick Stokke, Mark Daniels, Rodney Knutson, Bill Robson, Richard Stokke, Gordon "Bill" Bond, Robert Robson and Darin Robson. Honorary casketbearers were all of Steve's fellow employees and directors at Northern State Bank. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Steven James Stokke was born on October 10, 1945, the son of Alfred and Agnes (Hastad) Stokke in Thief River Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He attended school and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963. He attended the AVTI in Thief River Falls and received an accounting degree. He served in the United States Army from 1962 until 1967. He also served in the Army National Guard, completing a six-year term. Steve worked at the Robson Honey Farm before beginning his career in banking in 1964 at Northern State Bank in Thief River Falls.

On June 10, 1972, he married Diane Robson in Thief River Falls. The couple had two children. Steve became a vice president at the bank in 1972 and has since held that position.

Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, flower gardening, and water color painting. He was an avid sports booster and a member of the Blue Line Club, the Eagles Club and he coached youth hockey with TRFAHA. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a member of the American Legion in Thief River Falls.

Survivors include a daughter, Wendy (Mark) Daniels of St. Cloud; a son, Nicholas (Felicia) of Thief River Falls; three grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Paul (Drora) of Copperas Cove, Texas, Richard (Phyllis) of Eden Prairie, Theodore (Beverly) of Marquette, Mich., Rosemary (Gordon) Bond of St. Cloud, Margaret Stokke of Thief River Falls, Roberta (Kenneth) Kelly of Grand Rapids, Mich., John Stokke of Gaithersbug, Md., Edward (Patricia) of Woodbridge, W.V. and David (Carol) Stokke of Chenoa, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William.
