Millard Stigen, 73

Caledonia, N.D. &endash; Lloyd Millard Stigen, 73, died of natural causes and complications from fibromyalgia on Saturday, July 6, 2002, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Hospital.

Services were held Wednesday, July 10, at Shelly Marsh River Lutheran Church in Shelly, with Pastor Robin Nice officiating. Interment is at Caledonia Cemetery, Caledonia, N.D.

Lloyd Millard Stigen was born on November 12, 1928, the son of Myrtle Stigen, in Caledonia, N.D. He was raised by his grandparents Matt and Julia Stigen in this area and attended school. He was confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Caledonia on September 12, 1943. Millard proudly served his country in the United States Army Company L 164th Infantry &endash; 47th Infantry Division from 1950 until 1953. Millard was united in marriage to Annette Arends on June 10, 1955 in Middle River. Together they made their home in Caledonia. Millard worked as a heavy equipment operator on area interstates for Schultz and Lindsey Construction in Fargo and S & S Construction in Moorhead until his retirement. Millard was also the caretaker for the Caledonia Cemetery for many years.

Millard is survived by his wife, Annette of Caledonia; and his sons, Mark (Shelly) of Caledonia; and David of Casper, Wyo.; two grand children; two step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild. He is also survived by his half brothers, Dennis Koppang of Hillsboro, N.D.; Marlin Koppang of West Fargo, N.D.; and Ernest Koppang of Halstad.
