Hilda Stengrim, 81

Warren - Hilda Stengrim, 81, died Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at Good Samaritan Center in Warren.

Funeral services were held at 10 Stengrim  Obit a.m. on Saturday, September 15, at First Lutheran Church in Warren. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Warren with Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home of Warren in charge of the arrangements.

Hilda Enax was born on April 8, 1920 in Brenham in Washington County of Texas, the daughter of Fred and Emma (Busse) Enax. She was raised and attended school in Brenham and also attended nurses training.

On June 8, 1943, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Stengrim Jr. at Rosenberg, Texas. Following Gilbert's discharge from the military, the couple made their home at rural Warren where they farmed. Gilbert died on November 20, 1984.

Hilda was an active member of First Lutheran Church where she was a long-time Sunday school teacher and member of the women's group. She was also a member of McCrea Jolly Homemakers and volunteered at the Warren Senior Citizens Center and Good Samaritan Center.

She enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and especially, spending time with her grandchildren.

Hilda is survived by a son, Jim (Deb) Stengrim of Warren; three daughters, Kathy (Charles) Edgar of Warren, Linda (Dale) Lubitz of Chaska and Mary Jo (David) Cookman of Grand Forks, N.D.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Edna Browdy, Ella Mae Hacker, Rosa Bolte, Pearlie Behrens, Nelda Gutowsky, Florence Gaskamp and Minnie Klaus, all of Texas, and Elvera Herman of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five brothers.
