Daisy Stauffenecker, 85

Greenbush - Daisy E. Stauffenecker, 85, died on Saturday, November 2, 2002 at Greenbush Nursing Home in Greenbush.

Funeral services were held on Daisy Stauffenecker Tuesday, November 5 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Rev. Don Brauckmann officiating. Mitch Walski was the organist. Ernie Stauffenecker was the reader and Christine Stanislawski and Jane Harders were the Eucharistic ministers. Special music included "Rock of Ages," "At This Sacrifice," "Mother Dear, O Pray For Me" and "Lord of All Hopefulness." Honorary casketbearers were the Greenbush Nursing Home staff. Casketbearers were Daisy's grandchildren. Interment was in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery in Greenbush.

Daisy Elnora Johnson was born on February 8, 1917, the daughter of John and Elsa (Puttbrese) Johnson in Benwood. She grew up and attended school in Badger, graduating from Badger High School. Daisy then attended and graduated from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Grand Forks, N.D. She worked as a registered nurse in Thief River Falls, Greenbush and Kansas City, Kan. On March 30, 1940, she was united in marriage to Clarence Stauffenecker in Crookston. The couple made their home in Greenbush, where they operated the City Meat Market, Greenbush Locker Plant and the laundromat. Daisy worked as a registered nurse at the Greenbush Hospital and became the first nursing supervisor of the Greenbush Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Greenbush and of St. Ann's Sodality. Daisy enjoyed spending time at their lake home at Rocky Point with her husband. Clarence died in 1994 and since then, Daisy has resided at the Greenbush Nursing Home.

Survivors include a son, Ernest (Jeanette) of Duluth; two daughters, Eileen (Keith) Kilen of Greenbush and Rosanne (Val) Johnson of Grantsburg, Wisc.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norman (Mary) of Thief River Falls, Harley (Verna) of New London and Harlan of Willmar; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Joyce, in infancy. A00003B2002NV06
