Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Feb. 6, at the Assumption Catholic Church in Florian, with Father Vincent Miller officiating. Casket bearers included: Ben Kleinwachter, Ron LaBine, Raymond Stancyk, Jeremy Seng, Justin Seng and Jeffrey Franson. Interment was held at the Assumption Catholic Cemetery.

Stanley Joseph Stancyk was born on February 9, 1928 in Wrigh tTownship of Marshall County, the son of John and Frances (Hapka) Stancyk. He was baptized and confirmed at the Assumption Catholic Church in Florian. He attended country school and graduated from Karlstad High School. Stanley received his elementary teaching degree in Warren. He served his country in the United States Army.

Stanley was united in marriage to Alice Korczak on May 7, 1952 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw, N.D. Stanley taught at various country schools for seven years and pursed farming, which he loved. Stanley drove school bus for the Strandquist area for many years. He also worked at American Crystal seasonally.

He enjoyed farming, reading, music and spending time with family and friends.

He was a life long member of the Assumption Catholic Church and also served on the Lincoln Township Board for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; four children: Jeanette (Curtis) Forfang of Hallock, Marcellene (Roger) Shaffer of Thief River Falls, Stanley Jr. of Fargo, N.D. and Lucille (Tom) Scholin of Thief River Falls; four grandchildren; one brother, John Stancyk of East Grand Forks; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Antoinette Kleinwachter, Bernice LaBine; and one brother, Thomas.
